Background to the standard capability assessment

This scorecard has been developed in response to our industry's requirement for a consistent way to measure progress in implementing Efficient Consumer Response (ECR).

The assessment

  • can be used as an aid in developing a vision of your company's ECR programs and initiatives
  • has been developed by a global working group that represents all major ECR initiatives around the world
  • has been developed for trading partners in the supply chain, but is focused on Suppliers and Retailers

  • can be used both for self-assessment and for evaluating trading partners
  • is structured around the 13 ECR improvement concepts, which are grouped into 4 focus areas: Demand Management, Supply Management, Enablers and Integrators.

Benefits of using the Scorecard

Companies who have pioneered the use of Scorecards have seen a range of benefits generated. These benefits vary depending on the scope of usage of the Scorecards, the degree of understanding of ECR in businesses and the geographical area over which they are applied. However, these pioneer companies report consistently that the process of using the scorecards acted as a catalyst across the organization:

  • The Scorecard can help trading businesses internally and partners clarify the gap between their Current State and their Desired State.
  • The identified gap confirms the need for action.
